Comiket 76 – Day 3
Another Comiket has come and gone, with the doors having long closed on C76 by the time I had time to catch a breath and write up a post. From my perspective – all the way across the seas – it started out quietly again, but by evening it was on for all as Share started lighting up, and I’m now at a stage where I’m stuck watching the upload counter creep slowly towards 100%. At which stage I’ll move onto the next file. Rinse, repeat.
Being stuck at work till late also put a dent in my following of the aftermath, with a laggy remote connection to my home computer the only thing that managed to keep a few releases trickling out. It’s all experience though, and by the time C77 rocks up I’ll be a little wiser and a bit better prepared, hopefully what I’ve learned will also allow me to better streamline the process between getting a – more or less – raw release and getting it to the stage where it can be uploaded for distro.
From the chatter I’ve been hearing it sounds like picking up physical albums after the event can be anywhere from damned hard to impossible, which is quite disappointing as I’d love to grab a real copy of some of this stuff and help support my favourite artists, but both distance, lack of availability and the reluctance of some local suppliers to export doesn’t make it easy… or cheap. Maybe a pilgrimage is in order to a future event? Would be nice.
The clocks winding towards 3am, and I feel I’ve barely scratched the surface of what I want to do…
